Multiple waves of rain are likely on Friday for the bi-state area, bringing the possibility of flash flooding.
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for much of the area, including the St. Louis metro until 7AM Saturday.
Rain and embedded thunderstorms are likely through early afternoon, with a lull likely after the lunch hour through early evening.
A cold front will finally push through Friday night, with showers and storms pushing in out ahead of it later tonight. Some of those storms could be strong, with damaging winds possible. The higher severe risk will be just to the west of the Newschannel 5 viewing area, but all of us are in a marginal risk for a few strong storms late tonight.
An additional 1-3" of rain is possible on top of areas that saw heavy rain on Thursday, thus the risk for localized flash flooding.
All of this will clear out Saturday morning, leaving us with decreasing clouds and more sunshine for the afternoon.
