Florissant woman finds calling with Project: Calling Card

FLORISSANT, Mo. (KSDK) - Florissant resident Alejandra Bolden recently found her calling when she created Project: Calling Card.

She said, "I wanted to be an active participant in my community and also wanted to get other people involved."

Through Project: Calling Card, she collects greeting cards from the St. Louis community and sends them to troops overseas.

"Our original goal was 150 and we ended up sending 800 cards," she said.

But for Alejandra, she knew she could do more.

Alejandra said, "I thought why not keep it going and service different groups of people."

That's why she needs 400 greeting cards by Friday for another special group of people.

This time, for kids at Cardinal Glennon, Ronald McDonald House, and Hope Lodge.

"We chose not to do 'get well soon' cards because unfortunately, some of the kids are not going to get well and we didn't want to confuse them in case their parents have already explained to them what the deal was. So, we're doing 'thank you for being such an absolutely incredible kid during a tough time.'"

If you'd like to donate cards, you can mail them or drop them off at 69 Florissant Oaks Shopping Center, Florissant, Mo. 63031.

People are encouraged to a leave a message inside the card and sign their name. Make sure there's no glitter inside the cards. Visit their Facebook page for more information.
