Funeral, visitation set for Eureka firefighter

EUREKA, Mo. (KSDK) – Visitation and funeral services have been set for a Eureka firefighter killed in a car accident Friday near Pacific.

Gregory Light, 49, will have a visitation Wednesday, 3-8 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Eureka with his funeral 10 a.m. Thursday. Interment will follow immediately afterward at Bethel Cemetery in Wildwood, Mo.

Light, who was off-duty at the time of the crash, drove westbound on Route O when a car in the eastbound lanes tried to pass another car and hit Light's vehicle head on. He didn't wear a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

An 11-year-old passenger in the other car was seriously injured, and Light was pronounced dead on the scene.

Light, 49, leaves behind a wife, a son (who is also a Eureka firefighter) and a daughter.

He was a 27-year veteran of the Eureka Fire Protection District.
