GERALD, MO. - City officials in Gerald, Mo. investigated a gasoline leak near the Explorer Pipeline Saturday.
In a statement, officials said a gasoline leak was reported in the 7000 block of Highway H around 11 a.m.
The company that owns the gas line, Explorer Pipeline, said they were fueling a substation when the leak occurred.
Explorer Pipeline shut down the gas line immediately following the leak and worked with emergency response teams to help contain the situation.
An estimated 260 barrels, or around 11,000 gallons of gasoline, were leaked.
Evacuations were put into place and Gerald Elementary School opened up for anyone affected by the evacuations. No more than three people showed up for assistance.
Officials do not believe any drinking water was threatened.
