Highway patrol looking for police imposters

Early Sunday morning, a 19-year-old woman was driving on Missouri 32 in St. Francois County when a white or silver SUV started following her. The SUV activated red and blue lights and stopped the victim.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is looking for people who are impersonating police officers on Missouri roads.

Last week, a woman told her story of an impersonator pulling her over in Jefferson County using a dark colored passenger vehicle with red and blue lights. Now, according to a press release from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a second incident with a different vehicle occurred less than two days later.

Early Sunday morning, a 19-year-old woman was driving on Missouri 32 in St. Francois County when a white or silver SUV started following her. The SUV activated red and blue lights and stopped the victim.

The woman saw the suspect get out of the vehicle wearing a ski mask and hoodie, so she drove off.

In both instances, the suspect was described as about 5-foot-10 or 5-foot-11 with a stocky build.

It is unclear if the cases are linked.

Anyone with information or wanting to report a similar incident is asked to call Corporal Dustin Reed of the Missouri State Highway Patrol at (573) 431-0166.
