Hospice patient crosses off major bucket list item

She hasn't been on a horse for over 15 years but got right back in the saddle without missing a beat.

KIMMSWICK, MO. - Jean Johnson has been in hospice care for a month and had one wish on her bucket list: to go horseback riding one last time.

With the help of Ride On St. Louis and St. Anthony’s Medical Center, that wish came true Tuesday.

Johnson hasn’t been on a horse for over 15 years but got right back in the saddle without missing a beat.

Ride On St. Louis is a non-profit organization that offers equine assisted activities and therapies for children and adults with disabilities, U.S. veterans and the disadvantaged youth of the greater St. Louis area.

After a half hour ride around the property, Johnson was thrilled.

“I was looking forward to this, this is my bucket list, so I got to do it one last time,” Johnson said. “I can’t thank the people that did this for me enough, it means the world to me.”
