Ill. gubernatorial candidates campaign before primary

CHICAGO (AP) - Candidates for Illinois governor are furiously make the rounds statewide a day ahead of the primary.

Businessman Bruce Rauner stopped at a Chicago diner Monday before heading to Rockford and other locations. He's leading in polls in fundraising and focused his comments on Gov. Pat Quinn.

Quinn has one primary challenger, but is widely expected to with the Democratic nomination.

Republican state Sens. Bill Brady and Kirk Dillard are also touring Illinois.

Brady says he's ready for round two with Quinn. He lost the 2010 governor's race, but says he's learned lessons.

Dillard is traveling with former Gov. Jim Edgar. The Hinsdale Republican was Edgar's onetime aide.

Treasurer Dan Rutherford doesn't have a public campaign schedule.

Quinn's challenger Tio Hardiman is visiting universities in Peoria, Champaign and Bloomington.
