Alton pair arrested for car burglaries

ALTON, Ill. - Two Alton men were charged Tuesday in connection with several car cloutings last week.

According to Officer Emily Hejna, a spokeswoman for the Alton Police Department, the crimes took place in the north Alton area late Wednesday night, early Thursday morning.

Charges have been issued against 20-year-old Zachary Delay and 25-year-old Ryan Dees in nine of the reported 14 cases. Both were charged with nine counts of burglary, with Dees facing charges of unlawful possession of a stolen firearm and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.

Bail was set for Delay and Dees at $200,000 apiece.

Officers recovered electronics, personal items, and even a gun. Investigators are still looking for the owners of several other items and are asking anyone who was the victim of a car burglary in the area to contact the Alton Police Department at 618-463-3505 (ext. 234).
