Granite City man accused of attacking mother with bat

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - The Madison County State's Attorney's Office charged a Granite City man Monday for allegedly attacking his mother and another family member with a baseball bat.

According to court documents, police officers responded to a report of an injured woman in the 2400 block of Delmar on Saturday, August 2. The victim, a 76-year-old woman, had suffered head injuries. Another victim, 38, had injuries to his head and body.

A nine-year-old child at the residence, the son of the 38-year-old victim, was unharmed.

Officers confronted the suspect, 52-year-old Thomas Noser, who was armed with a knife. Noser refused to drop his weapon and allegedly charged at a police officer before being shot twice.

The victims are expected to recover.

In the meantime, Noser remains hospitalized. He's been charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, one count of aggravated assault, and two counts of aggravated domestic battery. When he's released, Noser will be taken to Madison County Jail to await trial. His bond was set at $500,000.
