Macoupin Co. bicyclist injured in hit-and-run

The accident was just north of the Staunton County Club.

MACOUPIN COUNTY, ILL. - A bicyclist is injured after being struck by a vehicle, and officers are looking for the driver who fled the scene.

It happened Sunday morning around 9:44 on Illinois Route 4.

The bicyclist, a 55-year-old man, was taken to the Staunton Community Hospital then airlifted to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. 

He had suffered head injuries but was conscious. He told a deputy he did not remember anything about the accident.

A witness told a Macoupin County deputy they saw a maroon Hyundai or Honda SUV with front end damage being driven by a man in his 40s around the time of the incident.
