Shiloh man wins $2M from scratch-off lottery ticket

A pair of local residents are cashing in on the lottery.

SHILOH, ILL. - Factory worker Patrick Emmerich always thought he'd win a big lottery prize someday, and his dream recently came true.

"I was at the store picking up chicken for dinner when something told me to get a lottery ticket," he said.

He purchased a $20 "$2,000,000 Extravaganza!" scratch-off ticket from the Dierbergs at 4000 Greenmount Crossing in Shiloh, and scratched it while standing in the store.

When he discovered the ticket was a winner, he thought it was a mistake and had the clerk double check it. Once it was confirmed, he immediately signed the back.

“And then I stuffed the ticket down my shirt and went straight home," he said.

Emmerich is married with four children and one grandchild.

He plans to donate some of the winnings to his church, and buy a new car and trailer, and invest.
