Lana Albert tree dedication

A large crowd was on hand this afternoon at a tree dedication and memorial service for Lana Albert, who was killed in a hit and run accident in Breese, Illinois, on June 8.

The Kaskaskia College board of trustees and college president Dr. James Underwood donated the tree that was planted at the college in Lana's memory. Lana had two degrees at Kaskaskia College and worked for the school before graduating and taking a job in Edwardsville, where she lived at the time of her death.

Jonathon Nast, 25, was arrested several days later and charged with hitting and killing Albert in Breese.

In addition to the dedication of the living memorial tree, 23 balloons were released. Lana was 23 at the time of her death.

Nast's next court appearance in Clinton County is August 19.
