Lawsuit settled in Ritz-Carlton 'wrong room' case

CLAYTON, Mo. - The Ritz-Carlton hotel in St. Louis County has settled a civil suit with the family of a young girl after a stranger obtained the wrong room key and climbed into the child's bed.

Daniel Hughes of Pennsylvania was accused of getting into bed with a nine-year-old girl at the Ritz-Carlton in March 2011.

Hughes said he received the wrong room keys and thought the girl was a woman that he knew.

Earlier this year, a jury found Hughes not guilty. He later settled a civil case with the family.

The girl's parents reached their settlement with the Ritz-Carlton for an undisclosed sum of money.

The family had been seeking more than $5 million in damages.
