Lawsuits filed against law enforcement after protests in Ferguson

FERGUSON - At least two civil lawsuits have been filed by the American Civil Liberties Union of Missouri after protests in Ferguson.

Both lawsuits name Col. Ronald K. Replogle, the Superintendent of the Missouri Highway Patrol and the County of Saint Louis. The lawsuits claim the defendants First and Fourteenth Amendments were violated during the protests in Ferguson.

One lawsuit was filed by Mustafa Abdullah, a program associated with the ACLU Missouri. In the lawsuit Abdullah claims his rights were violated after he went to Ferguson to check on claims protesters were not being allowed to gather on public sidewalks.

In the other lawsuit, journalist Mustafa Hussein claims he was told to stop recording police actions which he says is a violation of his constitutional rights.
