Local girl is finalist in national Toys 'R' Us competition

Ariana is one of three finalists in the country vying to become the President of Play.

SWANSEA, ILL. - A 10-year-old girl from Swansea, Illinois, is competing to become the first ever ‘President of Play’ for Toys ‘R’ Us and needs your help to win!

Ariana Gentry is now one of the top three kids in the country chosen by Toys ‘R’ Us executives for the new position. In order to make it here, Ariana had to go through a series of qualifying rounds.

“It’s the coolest job ever! You get to review toys that aren't even on the shelves yet and basically people rely on you to tell them which toys are the coolest," Ariana giggled.

First, Ariana had to create and submit a video of her reviewing her favorite toy.

Contestants, who had to be between the ages of nine and 13, were judged on personality, public speaking ability, and toy enthusiasm. Ariana’s video got her into the top 10!

After being chosen for the top ten, Ariana and her mom, Tammy, flew to New Jersey where she was interviewed by the top Toys ‘R’ Us executives. Ariana’s charisma won them over, landing her in the top three.

She then went on to participate in a live debate on Facebook, and was even interviewed by Mario Lopez for Access Hollywood!

Up until now, it’s all been up to the judges. But now, it’s in the hands of the voters! Ariana needs your support to become the first ever President of Play.
