Local police dog to get bullet protective vest thanks to Mass. charity

MARYLAND HEIGHTS - A Massachusetts charity is helping keep a Maryland Heights Police dog save with the donation of a bullet and stab protective vest.

Bax, the police K-9 for Maryland Heights, will be a bit safer when heading into the field thanks to Vested Interest in K-9s, Inc., an charity in East Taunton, Massachusetts, a Facebook post from the Maryland Heights Police Depatment said. The vest is expected to be delivered in the next eight-to-ten weeks.

Since its founding, Vested Interest has provided more than 2,000 protected vests for dogs in 50 states. The money is raised through private and corporate donations.
