The truck landed on its side and burst into flames.

ST. LOUIS - A 55-year-old man is dead after his truck crashed into the River des Peres Wednesday morning.

A Dodge Ram driven by Mark Soest was traveling the wrong way eastbound on Picadilly at Ellenwood when it went through the construction zone, flew into the air and struck the retaining wall on the east side of the river. The vehicle rolled backwards before landing on its passenger side in the river where it caught fire.
