Man killed in Route 159 accident identified

MADISON COUNTY, Ill. – The Madison County coroner has identified a man killed in a car accident Wednesday night.

Coroner Stephen P. Nonn says 51-year-old Steve A. Strubelt of Bunker Hill, Ill. was driving a 2000 Saturn SL north in the southbound lanes of North State Route 159 in Dorsey, Ill. He hit a 2002 International Harvester tractor-trailer operated by Prairietown Feed Service in the 8700 block of Route 159 at 6:05 p.m.

Strubelt's vehicle caught fire after the accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy was conducted Thursday, but a cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

The condition of the driver of the tractor-trailer has not been released.

The accident remains under investigation.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
