VALLEY PARK, MO. - Rising waters have forced a mandatory evacuation order for Valley Park, a letter from the mayor said Sunday night.
According to the letter, residents will be expected to evacuate no later than Tuesday at noon. The letter said the National Guard will be stationed and both entrances into the levee-protected area of the city after that time to keep people from getting in.
The letter said there has been no indication of the levee being compromised, and officials will continue to monitor it.
Anyone who needs assistance with the evacuation is asked to call the Valley Park Fire District at (636) 225-4260, or Valley Park City Hall at (636) 225-5171 ext. 6.
The Valley Park School district has canceled classes from Monday to Wednesday.
