Metro schools adding security in response to clown threats

Over the weekend, social media threats circulated targeting various St. Louis County schools.

Extra security will be added around St. Louis metro schools this week.

Alleged threats mentions schools in the St. Louis County area. Officials believe these threats are related to a trend around the country of clown hoaxes and sightings.

While not specifically named in the threats, the Parkway Distrcit will have increased security starting Monday. Florissant Police said they will add extra patrols around all Ferguson-Florissant schools out of an abundance of caution.

Similar threats have been made in other parts of Missouri, and in other states.
