Just days after the Clydesdale Park was renamed in remembrance of Officer Blake Snyder, a local band hosted a benefit concert there in his honor.
A few hundred people were there, as The Southside Johnny Band paid tribute to officer Blake Snyder.
Everyone held candles, many still overcome with emotion as The Southside Johnny Band paid tribute to Officer Blake Snyder
"It was a good opportunity to come and thank him for what he does, thank the police for what they do for us," said Patti Baucom, a nearby resident.
Saturday evening, The South Side Johnny band performed for several hours, and there was at least a 15 minute moment of silence during a brief vigil that followed.
Some of the officers from Snyder's old precinct were there to show support.
Band members said this benefit concert was another way to give back to families of officers injured or killed in the line of duty.
"Wanting to get more people involved and getting to know this little community and using the park to bring people out and tonight it showed that we can do that," said one of the band members.
Band members added they expect Saturday night's benefit raised around $2,000, all of which will go to BackStoppers.
