Officer suffers minor injuries in north St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – A police officer suffered minor injuries Friday afternoon in north St. Louis.

Schron Jackson, a spokesperson for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, says around 5:19 p.m. an officer spotted a stolen vehicle in the parking lot of a gas station near the intersection of N. Kingshighway and Natural Bridge Road.

One of the suspects, a passenger in the vehicle, was handcuffed at the scene.

Jackson says the driver exited the gas station, got back into the vehicle, and tried to leave the lot, dragging the officer a short distance. The officer suffered minor injuries.

The suspect continued to drive the vehicle and crashed at Union and Natural Bridge. Jackson says the suspect got out of the vehicle and ran from the scene. He remains at large.

The handcuffed suspect also tried to run, but was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.

Authorities say the officer who was dragged refused medical treatment.
