Parents weigh in on failing school districts

ST. LOUIS COUNTY - Parents and other community members weigh in on plans to fix failing school districts.

State educators hosted a hearing at the University of Missouri-St. Louis Wednesday night.

A law requires the Normandy and Riverview Gardens school districts to pay for students to transfer to accredited schools, but the districts are running out of money. And some parents are fed up with the state.

"They have set standards and never given the tools that the school districts need to achieve those standards," said Brian Jackson.

Right now the state is weighing several options, from bail outs to letting charter schools take over.
