Police: Bicyclist killed didn't obey stop sign

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis police say a Clayton man killed by a hit-and-run driver Friday night did not obey all traffic signs.

Rick Beard was riding in north St. Louis around 8:45 p.m. at Sarah and Cook, not far from the Gaslight Square area when a car hit him and drove away. Police say he was an experienced rider and wearing full reflective gear and a helmet.

Detectives have reviewed a camera attached to Beard's bicycle and say it shows him running a stop sign at the intersection where he was hit.

Police recovered the car they believe was involved, but have not made any arrests.
