Missing man found dead; not considered suspicious

Update: Gavin Newman has been found dead. Police with St. Louis County say there is nothing unusual or suspicious about his death.

Original story (October 26, 2016): The St. Louis County Police Department is looking for a man with burn scars on his upper body who went missing more than a week ago.

Police said 23-year-old Gavin Newman was last seen near a K-Mart at North Lindbergh and New Halls Ferry on Oct. 17. Police said he left all his belongings behind and has not been seen since.

Newman was described by police as a 6-foot-1, 145-pound man with brown eyes and patchy hair. They said he is missing his ears, and has burn scars on his face, chest and both arms. He was last seen wearing a striped hoodie, white jeans and black Timberland boots. 

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the St. Louis County Police Department at (314) 615-5317.
