Police looking for missing Okla. couple that may be in St. Louis

An Oklahoma police department is looking for a missing couple they said might be in the St. Louis area.

According to an endangered person report from the McAlester Oklahoma Police Department, Gerald Heggie — a 78-year-old who has shown symptoms of dementia — and Nita Heggie — a 75-year-old diagnosed with dementia — were traveling from their home in Oklahoma to Toledo, Ohio, but never arrived.

They left on Tuesday and called their son Thursday morning saying they were in the St. Louis area, and the cell phone usage placed them in St. Louis.

Police said Nita is 5-foot-3 and 140 pounds with strawberry-blond hair and brown hair. She uses a wheelchair, and police said she is suffering from dementia.

Gerald is 5-foot-10 and 170 pounds with white hair and blue eyes. Police said he has shown the early signs of dementia.

They were riding in a silver 2010 Hummer H2 with Oklahoma plates 375HTJ, possibly pulling a small boat.

Anyone with information is asked to call the McAlester Police Department at (918) 423-1212.
