Police: Man and dog punched in hate crime

A man is facing charges after police said he punched a black man and the man's dog in a discrimination-motivated attack.

According to charging documents, the victim was walking his dogs on the 4000 block of Bingham Avenue at around 6:30 Wednesday morning, when he heard 23-year-old Ibrahim Secic yelling racial slurs at him.

According to the probable cause statement, Secic ran after the victim, hit him in the back of the head then punched one of his dogs in the face.

An officer arrived on the scene to arrest Secic, but he tried to get away and run back into his house. The officer used a stun gun to get him into custody.

Secic was charged with one count of third-degree assault motivated by discrimination and resisting arrest.
