Police officers teach kids about reading, writing

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Officers with the city of St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department teamed up Tuesday with more than 300 elementary students for the Books and Badges program.

The students from Dewey, Humboldt and Woerner elementary schools get to learn more about what it's like to be a police officer, and the officers help the students with reading and writing.

Recruits in the city's police academy will meet with the kids for one hour a week for the 28 weeks of police training.
