Quadriplegic vet praises VA for 30 years of care

ST. LOUIS - As the growing VA scandal widens in the Midwest, some veterans are reaching out to KSDK to make sure their voices are heard too.

James Gebert of Cedar Hills wanted to tell us about his father William Gebert and the care provided by the St. Louis VA.

"It's been excellent care for my dad for 37 years. I can't give enough gratitude for the support they provided for my father. I strongly believe if it wasn't for the V-A he would not be here today," said Gebert.

William Gebert, a Vietnam veteran and quadriplegic, has a lot of medical equipment provided by the VA in his son's home. It includes a bed with pulley system and an electric lift for a van that his son uses to take him to doctor's appointments and Sunday drives.

Gebert said he was extremely pleased with the care he received adding, " When you need something, they get it for you."
