Retiring Rolla police chief on administrative leave

ROLLA, Mo. – Rolla police Chief Mark Kearse has been put on administrative leave pending an internal investigation, according to City of Rolla spokesperson.

An employee filed complaints against Kearse, which caused the leave so that the investigation could be done fairly.

Earlier this week, Kearse submitted his formal retirement notice to the City of Rolla, which would be effective Sept. 30.

He has worked in Rolla for the past 32 years and served as chief since 2007.

Kearse's retirement is not related to the investigation, according to City Administrator John Butz.
