Schnucks names new chief information officer

ST. LOUIS – A new chief information officer has been named for Schnuck Markets Inc.

Mark Zimmerman recently announced he would leave the company but agreed to stay until his replacement was found.

Robert Hardester will serve as the new CIO, reporting to Chief Operating Officer Anthony Hucker. Hardester will also be part of the senior management team, which sets the company's direction.

Hardester is a 1987 graduate of Oakville Senior High and earned a bachelor's degree in computer science and mathematics from Saint Louis University and an MBA in finance from Washington University. He recent served as vice president of corporate systems at Express Scripts. Before that he served as CIO at Furniture Brands International and at General Electric in the Commercial Distribution Finance division.

Between December 2012 and March 29, 2013 information was stolen from approximately 2.4 million credit and debit cards used at 79 of its 100 stores.

Schnucks has been hit with more than a half-dozen lawsuits related to the breach.
