Section of Glen Carbon bike path to be renovated

GLEN CARBON, Ill. – Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn announced Thursday a $200,000 investment to create a bicycle path in Glen Carbon.

The money will be used by Madison County Transit to renovate eight miles of the Heritage Bikeway in Glen Carbon, which begins at the Nickel Plate Trail and ends at Silver Creek.

"This investment will provide more opportunities for people to get out, get healthy and enjoy what Glen Carbon has to offer," Governor Quinn said. "Bicycling is an ideal activity for young and old, and this path will make biking safer and more convenient."

Forty-two miles of bike trails in Illinois are part of a $1 million improvement plan.
