Sexually explicit material in public libraries

ST. LOUIS - People are able to view sexually graphic material at public libraries right here in the St. Louis area and parents are outraged, because their kids can see it too.

Sexually graphic material may be viewed in some cases due to research.

There are also filters at all area libraries to stop people from looking at pornographic websites. However, the filters do not catch all of the sexually explicit material according to St. Louis Public Library Deputy Director Diana Freiermuth.

"The system is not blocking a whole lot so most people don't even know we have it," she said.

We checked with the county libraries in addition to the libraries here in the city of St. Louis and I'm told none of them have had to deal with someone getting caught checking out inappropriate material on the computer.
