St. Louis Airport police chief retiring

ST. LOUIS COUNTY – The chief of the St. Louis Airport Police Department is retiring.

Colonel Paul E. Mason II will retire April 1 after 26 years of service with the department.

"Words cannot properly convey the respect and admiration that I have for the men and women of the St. Louis Airport Police Department. Your accomplishments have been many. You have always answered the bell, whether it was 9/11/01 or two tornados, you performed in an exemplary manner.

Mason continued, wishing each employee and their families the best in the future.

There's no word yet on when a replacement will be named.
