Standoff ends in Creve Coeur

CREVE COEUR, Mo. – A standoff has ended peacefully in Creve Coeur, more than 11 hours after it began.

Police closed sections of New Ballas, Studt, and Old Ballas while a man barricaded himself in the King's Landing apartment complex.

The situation started around 11:45 p.m. Sunday when Creve Coeur police received a call from relatives of a 27-year-old man. They said he was in distress about a personal issue and asked for officers to check on him.

Before police arrived, one shot was fired. The shot was not aimed at police.

Officers set up a perimeter around the complex and tried to convince the man to surrender.

Around 11 a.m. a tactical unit made forced entry into the apartment. The man surrendered and was taken to an area hospital for a mental evaluation.

Nobody was injured, and the roads are re-open.
