STL police foundation hosts annual charity benefit

ST. LOUIS – Several area police officers and officials gathered for a luncheon to help raise funding for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Foundation.

Sports broadcaster Joe Buck, Hall of Famers Dan Dierdorf and Ozzie Smith were among the 650 attendees for the 8th Annual Fall Sports Kickoff Luncheon. All proceeds of the event help the foundation, which supports equipment, technology and training of the department.

Chief of Police Sam Dotson and others spoke during the event, which also featured a police expo with the latest technology and equipment.

The foundation has raised more than $3 million since 2007 as well as an additional $3 million for the new police department.
