STLFD: Man injured during industrial accident

ST. LOUIS - Firefighters cut a man free and rushed him to the hospital after a he slipped and had a piece of metal jab into his back while working at a salvage yard Tuesday afternoon, the St. Louis Fire Department said.

A spokesperson for the fire department said the accident happened near the intersection of Hall Street and Humboldt Avenue in north St. Louis.

The man was taken to the hospital where he was listed in stable condition. Officials said the injury is not a penetration — and they initially believed — because the piece of metal did not go all the way through the man.
