KSDK -- Investigators are following up on a letter sent to a Hillsboro, Missouri man about the disappearance of a 28-year-old pregnant Pevely woman.
Jefferson County Sheriff Olive "Glenn" Boyer said detectives tracked down the author of the anonymous letter, who admitted to writing it and sending it to the Hillsboro man.
Investigators said the writer has a mental illness and has been infatuated with the Amanda Jones case since she was last seen in the parking lot of the Hillsboro Civic Center on August 14 2005.
Investigators said the writer admitted there was no basis for the information in the letter, but they are still following up on it, however, it appears the information is not viable.
Anyone with information about the disappearance of Jones is asked to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at 636-797-5515.
