KSDK -- A new St. Louis Zoo baby is slowly testing his independence.

"Tep-Tep" is a 7 month old Matschie Tree Kangaroo. He's named after a village in Papua, New Guinea.

When he was born he was the size of a lima bean. Today he popped his head out of his mothers pouch and ate a little snack. He even ventured all the way out for a few seconds. Tep-Tep is expected to move out of the pouch in about three months.

Right now the best time to see him is at 10:30 am and 3:30pm during feedings.
