3 year old Conrad and 16 year old Alex are riding horses today. They think this is all for fun, but their parents know it's about much more than that. These kids, along with hundred's of others ride horses to improve their motor skills. Riding horses helps them feel better physically and emotionally.

This Therapeutic Horsemanship program is based in Wentzville. Each session is closely monitored by a therapist behind the horse, a handler in front of the horse and two volunteers along side. The results are amazing. Parents brag about this program all the time, saying their children would never be where they are today with it.

"A 12 year old who had never spoken, 4 months into riding here uttered their first words, children whose doctors have said your child will never walk, in 6-8 months children take their first step," one parent says.

Therapeutic Horsemanship is hosting a fundraiser this weekend. On September 13 you can watch an afternoon polo match on the McGehee Polo Field in Chesterfield off Wildhorse Creek Rd. The game starts at 4pm.

At half-time, all attendees are invited to take part in the traditional stompting of the divits. There will also be a petting zoo and face painting for the kids.

Tickets are $20 per car or $15 in advance. For moer information or to buy a ticket call 636-332-4940 or go to www.thstl.org.
