KSDK -- A shoving incident involving an adult and child over the weekend, resulted in a youth football coach verbally resigning. Video shows Tony Warneke pushing an 11-year-old on the other team as the two sides are shaking hands.

Chris Hageman, President of the Executive Committee of the Park Rock Football Association, said Wednesday morning that Warneke has verbally resigned. Hageman said that he asked for the resignation in writing, but has yet to receive it. He did say that Warneke is no longer with the program.

Coach Warneke tells Newschannel 5 that the child he shoved was taunting his team. The father and coaches of the player say that is not untrue. The coaching staff says the player is the most polite kid on the team.

"If I thought that for a moment that he was involved in this kind of thing this would look very different, not that I excuse what happened with the coach but I would not support my son acting that way either," said Joe Deavenport, victim's father.

Warneke may face criminal charges. Police are investigating.
