KSDK -- A California man is accused of trying to hire someone to commit murder.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Officer charged 47-year-old Daniel Clayton of Garden Grove, California with Conspiracy to Commit Murder in the First Degree. Clayton is being held in the St. Louis Justice Center under $50,000 bond.
On Sunday, St. Louis County police said they were contacted by a subject who claimed that Clayton was attempting to hire someone to kill another man. An undercover officer met with Clayton at a motel in the 6500 block of Lindbergh where Clayton was staying.
Clayton then allegedly gave the undercover detective the intended victim's description, location and money to commit the murder.
Clayton was subsequently arrested and charged. Police have not said why Clayton wanted the intended victim killed.
