KSDK -- Those gambling in Missouri no longer have to worry about buy-in limits. That's because voters approved Proposition A on Tuesday's ballot.
Todd George, Vice President and General Manager at Lumiere Place, says they were informed earlier today by the gaming commission that the restrictions are being removed immediately. That means you know longer have to use a card that tracks your spending and that $500 limit is gone
Proposition A calls for a one percent tax increase on casinos. That money, which some say could be as much as $100 million a year is supposed to go to Missouri schools.
Lumiere is letting its guests know about the restrictions being lifted by displaying the news on several TV's in the casino.
How the restriction worked before is a person was only allowed to bet $500 in a two hour period.
George says this will help them compete with casinos across the river.
"We get a lot of travelers from all over the world, we get a lot of celebrities, a lot of athletes for the events downtown and people would just come in and shake their head saying, 'I don't understand why I have to go in line,'" he says.
Ryan Levi, a St. Louis resident, says, "I think it is a good idea because it can compete with casino queen across the street and give more money to the schools."
