KSDK-Firefighters think a child playing with a lighter started a fire in St. Charles. Fire crews were called to an apartment on the 1000 block of Lindenwood around 11 a.m. Firefighters say a mattress caught fire. The flames then spread to the rest of the room. Firefighters pulled charred toys and clothes from the home.A woman was home at the time with six children ages 3 to 11. No one was hurt. The Red Cross is providing the family with food and shelter.
