
KSDK -- A man from rural Ironton was sentenced to six years in prison on animal abuse and assault charges, said R. Scott Killen, Iron County Prosecuting Attorney.
43-year-old Tony Hartwick was charged with animal abuse in July 2008 for dragging a horse behind an ATV. The horse, Mason, was transferred to the Humane Society of Missouri for veterinary care and rehabilitation.
Hartwick was charged with second-degree assault in September 2008 for an unrelated incident.
The judge sentenced Hartwick to three years for each charge.
