KSDK -- A local shoe store has helped raise dozens of shoes for injured members of our armed forces while they recover from battle injuries at U.S. Military Regional Medical Center in Landsthul, Germany.
Commander Dawn Pesti of the U.S. Navy Reserve leads the Reserve Officers Association's (ROA) local effort to collect contributions to purchase high-quality athletic shoes from Fleet Feet Sports at a discounted price and then ship the shoes overseas to Germany.
On Friday, Farmers Insurance Group contributed an additional $1,000 to Operation Wounded Warrior.
The ROA has raised more than $4,000 to date and has used the money to purchase 274 pairs of shoes from Fleet Feet, worth a retail value of $25,000.
