Marley in the movie "Marley and Me" was adorable but known for being naughty and neurotic!

He was a playful pup that wasn't really into the whole training thing.

Marley was very unlike the dogs we met from the Champ organization. The Champ dogs are trained to put laundry in a basket, pick up trash off the floor, open and shut a cabinet door and they can even grab the telephone and bring it to you in an emergency.

Champ stands for Canine Helpers Allow More Possibilities.

Champ provides service dogs in the St. Louis area free of charge to people who apply and who have physical disabilities. They don't do any guide dog work or signal dog work.

Not all dogs start out perfectly when they come to CHAMP but the trainers here say that with consistency the dogs can learn anything.

In honor of the great work CHAMP has done with animals they received a $500 donation for "Marley Cares Day"!

If you'd like to volunteer at CHAMP or to just find out more call them at (314)653-9466 or head to

And don't forget, the movie "Marley & Me" is out on DVD today!
