KSDK -- Dogs rescued from a puppy million Daviess County will be available for adoption next week in the St. Louis area.
Members of The Daviess County Sheriff's Department, the Missouri Department of Agriculture and the Humane Society of Missouri Animal Cruelty Task Force rescued nearly 200 animals, including primates, from a puppy mill near Winston on March 31.
Earlier this month, the Humane Society of Missouri Animal Cruelty Task Force recovered 102 dogs missing from the puppy mill and brought them to the Humane Society of Missouri Headquarters in St. Louis.
The dogs include a variety breeds: Yorkshire Terrier, Pekingese, Chihuahua, Maltese, Miniature Pinscher, and Miniature Poodle.
In a disposition hearing yesterday in Jackson County, the Humane Society of Missouri was awarded custody of the 102 dogs.
The dogs will begin to be available for adoption the week of April 20. People interested in adopting one of these animals are encouraged to visit the Humane Society of Missouri's web site.
As they become available, the dogs will be placed at one of the three Humane Society of Missouri Adoption Centers: St. Louis City Center, 1201 Macklind Avenue; Westport Area Center at 2400 Drilling Service Road in Maryland Heights; and at the Chesterfield Valley Center, 17357 Edison Avenue.
