KSDK -- A south St. Louis man charged with shooting and critically injuring a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier has been ordered to be committed to a psychiatric facility.

Adrian Renard Mabry, 24, of the 3400 block of Giles, is charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

Mabry allegedly shot Terry Marcrum in his back and shoulders in April 2008 near the corner of Spring Avenue and Potomac Street.

A motion to show Mabry was mentally unfit to proceed was filed last June. He has been undergoing mental health evacuations since then, and last month, was ordered to remain institutionalized until it's been determined that he can assist in his own defense at trial.
