KSDK -- His picture of Joshua Childers on a stretcher has been seen across the world. Kevin Jenkins is the editor of The Mountain Echo, a weekly newspaper serving Iron and Reynolds Counties.
When Jenkins heard Joshua had been found Wednesday afternoon, he scrambled from his office to Iron County Hospital down the street. A few minutes later, paramedics arrived in front of the hospital, and Jenkins snapped three photos of young Joshua being taken out of an ambulance.
Jenkins said the smiles on everyone surrounding the boy tell the story.
"There's a lot of great shots any photographer misses," Jenkins said. "But this is one that just happened to be there. The great thing is that the picture I was taking was such a positive one because Joshua had turned out to be alive and well."
Jenkins said the volunteers who helped in the search for Joshua will be recognized during the Mountain Music Festival, beginning May 15 in Ironton.
